Writer's picture: Gale FarnsworthGale Farnsworth

In 2004 HarperPerennial published Ariel The Restored Edition by Sylvia Plath. The edition begins with a foreword by Frieda Hughes. Plath’s poems are printed in the first half of the book. Facsimiles of the original typed poems comprise the second. There are four handwritten drafts of the poem “Ariel” in which you can feel the energy of her rewrites. This restored edition is a huge gift to readers who love and admire Sylvia Plath and her poetry.
